What is La Paulée de Riga?

The tradition of La Paulée de Meursault – the end-of-harvest lunch – was started in 1923 by Jules Lafon (great-grandfather of the legendary winemaker Dominique Lafon of Domaine Comtes Lafon). Jules, a passionate collector, lover of art and all things beautiful, and the mayor of Meursault, invited local winemakers and harvest workers to celebrate the end of the vintage. Everyone brought along a few special bottles to share, while Jules made sure there was a hearty feast on the table.

Today, La Paulée has become a cult event – a gathering of growers, négociants, collectors, and Burgundy’s most ardent fans, filled with drinking, feasting, singing, and hedonistic joy, often with 1000 guests in attendance. The tradition has spread to Burgundy-loving corners of the world – including Riga, where together with Andrew Jefford we are ready for our very own La Paulée de Riga!

Over the years, we’ve celebrated La Paulée de Riga with Michael Schuster, then with Jasper Morris, and this year – with Andrew Jefford!


Hearty Sunday lunch & Burgundy treasures!

We’ll provide a hearty Sunday lunch after the great Wine Parade, the company and stories of Andrew Jefford and Aigars Nords, plus a string of outstanding Burgundies brought straight from the Bouchard Père & Fils cellars in collaboration with Balmerk!

The wines are arriving in Riga straight from Beaune, where the spectacular Bouchard Père & Fils cellars are located – and they’ll present us with a mosaic of the very best vineyards and vintages, from the 1980s to today!
